Why western nations with large populations? Why not every nation that has a larger population than Germany? Oh because of the 18 that have a greater population than Germany, 17 of them are doing better.

Because western nations have similar health systems, proper public reporting requirements (so you don't get fed fake data), and democratic governments that can apply similar policies (for example Wuhan style lockdowns are not an option) if they desire.

You need to compare items that are comparable. Not apples to oranges.
