Looks like there is even more risk with russsia =evil empire;
SRN news reports they just stole the russian XOM lead project.
XOM had already written off 4.6 billion on it.
I remember russia defaulted on its bonds in 1998 Aug, even though thy had money to pay:caution:

As people pointed out, its a market. To the extent the USA is being "greedy" now, you could say Germany was being "greedy" when they decided to go with Russia and get dirt cheap gas even though they would be funding Russia's army bill and be subject to the risk Russia cuts them off. They made the wrong call. Russia's natural gas has exited the market, so now they have to go to the market without the Russian competition. They could have gone to the market WITH the Russian competition, but they decided to go with Russia instead. Their call, and this is where they are at because of it. Reap what you sow.
