After seeing other States like LA,Fl and AR getting rid of thier moderate Dem Senators I can see Manchin being voted out for what he does now.I can see Manchin seeing the same if he wants another term and not cooperating with Dems.Hes open to statehood for new states they need to go for that not only now but for the future as well.

That’s why I think Manchin will retire. I don’t know if any dem, even a moderate dem, can win with a Democrat on the top of the ticket in West Virginia. I’m pretty sure Man him knows this better than anyone else.

You can list anything you want. As I said corporate donations to democrats are as much about public relations as they are about policy agenda. Where these donations run afoul is in the unlimited dark money super pacs. That’s where you see the massive donations from real estate and Wall Street.

Ah, so when Democrats get donations from Corporate America, it is public relations and they don't expect these Democrats to provide cover for them on anything. Its all goodwill. But when the same happens with Republicans, its dark and about corruption.

As I said, it’s about the dark and unlimited money. For the record, I don’t have any problems with republicans getting limited and identifiable corporate donations either.

Remember, you’re the one trying to impugn Democrats, I’m just saying corporations give political contributions as public relations. You might think that’s nefarious but you’ll find it’s just a basic strategy many companies maintain.

Makes sense but if he plans to retire he shouldn't be opposing The Dem agenda which it seems he will. Seems to me he was hedging saying he wont support ending the filibuster but would consider statehood for other states so the new Senators could do it.

Manchin is going to be Joe Manchin. That does not mean he is going to give dems a pass on everything but they all know how to cook up legislation before it gets to the floor anyway.

I'm not trying to impugn anyone. All I'm saying is that both Republicans and Democrats are slaves of the same machine. Pretending one side of the same coin is benevolent and wants nothing more than the people's best interest is incredibly naïve. The sooner we realize that the sooner we start to fix real problems.

Uh, no. Government is imperfect and politicians even more so. Where Democrats actually have an advantage over republicans is they know how to run a government. They are full of actual policy wonks and experts. Where as republicans are anti government so they don’t actually put in the work or have the expertise to be successful at running a government.

Does this mean every democrat administration is better than every republican, no. But it does mean that democrats are more likely to not fuck it up, as you have been living through and experiencing.
