Unless your mother lives in a 400 square foot shack she didn't get her roof done for $1500.00. You sir are full of shit. Material cost for a laminate shingle with felt and extras runs about $135/square which for a 1600 square foot house would be $4050 plus sales tax for just the materials.

San Antonio and Dallas/Fort Worth area are the cheapest with the price going from $40 to $50 per square for tearing off one layer of shingles off and installing new shingles. In Amarillo the going rate is $55 to $65 per square. Some crews the head guy takes a larger portion of the money and pays his men by the square for the work they do and will make a profit from his workers. Smaller crews sometimes will split the total between themselves.

Mav I contract out my work. For a 1600 square foot house with a two car garage the total roofing is about 30 squares depending on the roof pitch. I pay $1650 to remove, haul off and take to the dump and install new shingles on this job. A three man crew can do this in one day. I pay the subcontractor, some of them pay their guys by the square and some will split the money evenly between themselves. Regardless this is what the job pays, that is fact. I do this everyday. If the guys make less that means the head sub makes more, the total paid is the same. I do not pay men by the hour but I'm showing you how much money is in the job.

The one's who keep a larger portion make more than $100,000 a year and yes they are green card workers. This isn't that hard to understand man. Go through the math max. I write checks to these guys every Friday with the exact same numbers I'm telling you about. I think you guys just like fucking with people who voted differently than you.

I'm sorry, I don't believe you. You can't be serious. They would turn down $35 an hour? Fuck most traders I know wouldn't turn down $35 an hour. Come on. As Max said, that's almost 100k a year. I know attorneys that don't make 100k a year and in TX? Jesus. That's like making 150k a year in Chicago or 300k a year in NY. This is getting more absurd by the minute.

LOL, look how all this has changed with this statement, so 1 person COULD make up to 35 an hour in absolute primetime, but now he has to split it?
In other words instead of what you originally said where you pay guys 35 an hour, it is incredibly rare if a guy can make 35 an hour, if he busts his ass, and if he skims off his whole crew, now your whole story just changed.
Now it came to exactly what i said where the guys in that industry who make money, make it off of screwing other people for low wages.
