I beleive soros is a Macro trader/investor? He is against T.A. completley. He gathers a strong fundmanetal story about an upcoming big trend change and takes a big bet. Not short term and no T.A. to time it. (or very little)
It's funny, I've seen him in interviews talk about his theory of reflextivity and it sound a lot like Elliott wave.
He talks about a boom / bust cycle and short term trading. Cashing in on the booms and busts.
He doesn't sound like he does a whole lot of fundamental or value investing. He really can't if he's short term.
He also keeps his stops very close. He tightens losses and lets profits ride. So hard to do...so hard to make those gains on stops that tight. He took very little risk if any. I don't think his fund every had a losing year except around 2000
