I will say it is quite difficult to transition back to civilian life after war for most. And when back home, it takes at least six months to even feel like you're home. Nothing easy about it...
Don't know what's happening but I met another marine last night, how many former (I did that for you leap) marines are in this town. He was the bartender at a live music dive I frequent. Damn nice guy.

Soldiers on active duty have to pay income taxes...

It's one group that's entitled to full exemption from federal and state income taxes while on active duty, regardless if they serve in a designated combat zone or not.

All Marines are my Brothers who could knock on my door at 0300 needing a place to stay, and they could stay with zero questions asked. I'd also say 99% of the former Marines out there today are good to go. It's a Family I miss, but I sure as Hell don't miss the constant deployments, and war.

Agreed. And when receiving demolition duty pay (hazardous duty), they also tax that. Sounds like a scam doesn't it? We always shook our heads over it.
