Geometry In Trading

This thread is to discuss the use of geometry in trading. Any one using geometry in his/her trading? Is there a literature in this field? Who are the leaders in using geometry in trading?
 
in a sense yes....I look at trend lines and see how steep they are and incorporate that into exit strategies. Angle trading!

There is such a book. Its title is; "Geometry of the Markets" by Bryce Gilmore. I found it interesting but not very useful. For me it was too much invested in telling the market what it should be doing, distracting me from reading what was currently happening.

Excellent input! I like your terminology of angle trading. If one considers three cases:

1. A reverse V.
2. Convex parabola.
3. Concave parabola.

Any insights on how you would angle trade them?

Another excellent input! So the book is not worth reading then, unless it has some insights and/or mathematical results in it. What are the best approaches/insights to reading what is currently happening?
 
Here is a chart of NFLX ---nice trend that is not too steep up until the latest news release --then it goes vertical...time to get out!!!

I used to trade a patented Metric Trading System as noted in these 2009 posts on my old journal here on ET:

"Short APOL @ 61.70, sellers came in when price pulled 1 cm from the 20 EMA, covered @ 60.86 for + $332. (NoDoji's Metric Trading System)"

"Despite my fears, I bought the early dip that left a higher low at the 10-period EMA (40.31) and held through the first breakout. I had no idea where the price went on the DOM, only that my P/L grew very green very fast and I was able to throw a stop at a very green level. I struggled to find the price and closed the position @ 46.44 when price had pulled almost 1 cm from the EMA (NoD'S Metric Trading at work)."

It seemed to work well :D :D :D
