The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series have this weekend off. However, The NASCAR Busch Series heads south of the boarder for a road course race down in Old Mexico. Martin Truex, Jr. won this race last year.

You, me, Jeff Gordon and a host of fans also thought the race failed to provide much excitement. However, Gillian Zucker, the president of California Speedway, had this to say:
Evidently all those empty seats resulted from fans deciding to go down below the grandstands and max out their credit cards at the exact same time. So either not enough fans actually went to the race to fill the seats, or the fans found the race so boring they left in the middle to go shopping. Brilliant! And Darlington had to lose a racing date for this crap!

Like his engine at California, Tony will blow up this season. The anger management classes have worn off and the old, self destructive Tony has returned to NASCAR. However, I do agree that VJGC is a fine charity.

Without question, Stewart has skills, but it takes much more than talent to win back to back NASCAR Cup Series Championships. I agree Tony and Biffle had the cars to beat until engine failures handed the race to Mr. Robot, Matt Kenseth. With respect to a wager, I'd find such an endeavor interesting. On USENET (rec.autos.sports.nascar), such wagers usually involve the loser donating to the VJGC.
I like many drivers, but have been a fan of the #24 Dupont Chevrolet since I first watched him race at Michigan back in the mid - 1990's.

Well I myself am not a gambling man ( I'm a quant at heart
), but I was just wondering how strongly you felt about Tony not dominating this year. As for Jeff, He admittedly is what drew my attention to Nascar back in '99 (incredible for a guy at age 24 at that time). But I care not to see him win races. Not as much though as I care to see the #48 team dnf regularly. hehe...
I haven't been able to take my eyes of "Fat Boy" (Tony) since he qualified for the front row on his inaugural rookie race at Daytona. A little temperament and emotion only shows his intensity for winning. I'm glad he was able to recognize that he was being a jerk there for a while. Hopefully, what we saw last week won't be an indication of what's upcoming this season. Sometimes he can be his own competitor... losing races or positions because of that "blind" intensity.
