Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!!

I never had much use for Robby but that stuff today was great. He's kind of a low rent version of Tony Stewart. I think his days in NASCAR may be numbered however.

Once again NASCAR blew it big time. Why would they restart the race with a car out of position, particularly when everybody watching knew he was going to put his bumper to Ambrose? If needed, they could have blackflagged the race and hooked a tow truck to his car. Instead, they made an idiotic decision that ruined the integrity of the race. There's also the question of who started the bumping, ambrose or Gordon. It's hardly fair to penalize a driver for rough driving when he is retaliating. Basically, the whole thing looked like a typical Saturday nite shootout sportsman series dirt track race, the kind that ends with a bunch of fat guys in tee shirts spilling out of pickups and slugging it out in the infield. After today, that's where Gordon may be driving.
 
LOL!!! Robby made that the most entertaining NBS race of the year! I didn't see any news afterwards so my question is this. Why did they have him restart in the 14th position instead of 1st or 2nd? I swear I saw the caution out before cars started passing Robby.
Regardless, that was great. I'm still laughing about it, the guys nuts!
 
Totally agree with jz. Why did NASCAR want to put him way back in the first place? I know they use those electronic gizmos to determine track position after yellows, but I thought that was just an aid, and seems like they could be overuled if common sense prevailed, since it was VERY clear that Ambrose spun Robby after the yellow. And since they don't want racing back to the line, time should have stopped right there, before Robby got spun. Robby may have a legitimate beef here, now that I think about it some more.

Common sense would have put Robby back into second, I think, cuz he passed after the yellow came out, or just after, which would have put him in 1st.

Either way, Ambrose was gonna get punted if Robby was second, no matter what the situation. Shoot, before the 1st restart, they even had a dude in his pits asking the crewchief if Robby was gonna "bump and run", and the chief just smiled. And after the finish, Robby was defending himself saying "that when a guy slows down a lot he's gonna get hit from behind so it wasn't my fault" or something similar - even though I believe he was defending the 2nd restart.
 
Thanks for the back up Haroki. Im watching Countdown now. Im convinced... Nascar screwed him.
Wishful thinking prediction - Robby wins (again) at next weeks road course!

I thought this was a likely outcome. Kyle no doubt took notice of the troubles his brother Kurt has had since decamping Roush for Penske. Not that Penske runs a bad organization, but they haven't had the success in Cup that Gibbs has had. If they put Kyle in the 18 car, Gibbs will have an awesome lineup, one that is close to if not equal to Hendricks.

Here's what puzzles me. The story that went around when Jr was shopping for a new team was that the Bud sponsorship was a conflict for Gibbs so they couldn't pursue Jr. Suddenly, after Jr is with Hendricks, Bud is unceremoniously dropped as Jr's sponsor. Was it that Gibbs was not so interested in Jr and used the Bud deal as a cover? Or that Jr wanted Hendrick all along, even if it meant separating from one of the best sponsors in motorsports? Or that Bud was looking for an excuse to replace Jr with a driver who won races occasionally? For most drivers, 90% of their attractiveness to a new team would be bringing a sponsor like Bud with them, but I guess Hendrick is above all that.
