Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!!

I'm a total Gordon fan and I saw nothing but good clean racing fun there. The guy in second isn't supposed to just move over for the guy in third, even if he is faster (and Jeff was only barely faster).

Truex was the *reason* that Jeff didn't get to Denny in time, but nobody got screwed.

Quote from TM_Direct:

Truex screwed Gordon over....he forced gordon to race him hard for 2nd but Truex wasn't;t pushing Hamlin at all...you could tell Gordon was being ultra conservative in his passing of truex..

I totally agree...I didn't mean it like that...I was just a little disappointed truex didn't go after Hamlin like he wanted to win....Gordon wasted precious laps getting around him and it was good clean racing and bot drivers even said so...

I think Truex was going as hard as he could. He was entitled to race Gordon for 2nd, coming to the final laps. On the other hand, a lot of guys would have put the fender to him after a couple of laps. I know I would have if I had been Gordon.

I also have to give Gordon a lot of credit for not hitting Hamlin in the last corner. It looked like he could easily have nudged Hamlin out of the way, as Hamlin was loose already, but he seemed to back off rather than hit him. In the post-race interview, Hamlin thanked him for cutting him some slack there.

Who would have thought this time last year that Stewart would not be the top driver for Gibbs?

From Jayski...

Daytona 500 to be moved to November? This week, sources within NASCAR
told me [CTR] there has been closed door discussions to move the date of
the Daytona 500, to November. Apparently, NASCAR is intrigued by the
idea of switching the dates of the season ending Homestead race with the
season opening Daytona 500. The allure of ending the NASCAR season and
crowning a new Nextel Cup champion at the sports biggest race is
something the France family is strongly considering. NASCAR and the
International Speedway Corporation own both tracks so a change of date
would be easy to accomplish. Each year since 1959, NASCAR has led off
the season in Daytona Beach, FL with the sports biggest race, the
Daytona 500. In 2008, NASCAR will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the
Daytona 500 on February 17th for what may be the final time ever in the
month of February. Sources said the late Bill France Jr. was very much
against moving the Daytona 500 and felt that it would hurt the integrity
of the sport. NASCAR does not intend to have a final decision regarding
the date change until the end of the 2007 season.

the drivers will go crazy if they end the season on restrictor....I was out at Daytona all day yesterday....me and my son were in the fan zone and saw Martin, JJ and Denny....my boy got a chance to take a picture in Jr's COT...the lady was telling everybody that Jr. used this car in bristol or martinsville.....but then i noticed the front splitter was made out of 2 inches of plywood painted black!...she started hemming and hawing on its authenticity LOL...it looked like the dive platform in the back of a boat!

im skipping the Bush race tonight...Its too fucking hot out and im always too tired for the big one....Watched practice yesterday for awhile....they all look strong but Tony is going for the 400 hat trick and with Hamilin winning last week, you know he's gonna be pumped to reassert himself...Sleeper pick again:

the Busch brothers...they both always run very well here but then make bone headed moves...Kenseth also gets good runs here as well....will take lots of Pix and then post them here on sunday!

The Bush race was rained out.....yet another reason why i keep skipping the summer bush race @ Daytona...but these morons at nascar have made a major fubar....the bush race will be 9;00 this morning...AND if you have a ticket for the bush or pepsi tonight you can stay....but the Pepsi ticket will have precedence over he seat...this is gonna be crazy,,,,,your gonna have drunk hot rednecks fist fight for the seats....why didn't;t they just move it to sunday?
