Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!!

I would love to see Montoya's motor torn down and checked. He was pulling every car in the field down the straightaway. His own teammate Pruett with a supposedly identical car couldn't run with him down the straight. Must be that Formula 1 experience because I can't imagine NASCAR would have given him a little extra under the hood to ensure their biggest new star won in mexico. The NASCAR suits must have been having heart failure at the end that Hamlin would do a bump and run on him.
 
They check every winners engine after a race and as far as for Montoya's and Pruett's car being the same the set ups on them were completly different.

I'm not sure how you know what setups are on each car, but I am talking about the engines, which theoretically should be the same.

As for post race checks, who do you think does it? NASCAR has long been accused of giving favored teams a little extra from time to time. It usually isn't this blatant however, when one guy can walk off and leave every other top car in the field down the straight. Perhaps as a new driver Montoya didn't know not to make it so obvious.

On another issue, I'm not so sure I agree with all the bellyaching about him spinning Pruett. He did stick his nose in there, but Pruett left the door wide open then cut down on Montoya's line. I don't know what montoya was supposed to do. As it was, he smoked his tires trying to avoid Pruett. I'm guessing Tony Stewart or Jeff Gordon would have got under Pruett the same way.

Engines never come out the same one is always a little better and set ups make a lot of difference of how cars run. A set up can make a car run away from the others. It happens all the time.

You can take two brand new Corvettes right of the line, theoretically the same but one will be faster.

You don' t think those motors are all dyno'd before they leave the shop? Maybe Gnassi gave Pruett a crap motor so Montoya would be faster but he also walked off from Hamlin and Gibbs motors are stout. I don't think the setup would make much difference on a green flag start.

Of course you could be right, but it all seemed awfully convenient to me.
