If you are young and have nothing, "starting over" wouldn't be a penalty.... you'd still have nothing after the "wipe clean".
But if you're older and have accumulated for retirement or a richer lifestyle, you'd be personally "wiped clean". That's not fair. And older folks wouldn't have the time, opportunity, nor energy to "start over".
Nevertheless, there WILL probably be a "wipe clean"... much to the misery of a huge part of our citizenry.

US has always been a predatory place.
Obviously the capitalist predators were more subtle in days gone by, until they went too far by reaching out globally too quickly at the expense of middle america.
Middle america is still the mule of the global reach and will be for another two decades I would imagine. The difference now being that the gov. is going to pick on their bones in a very unsubtle way.
