Cathie Wood's ARK Invest has rose to prominence thanks in part to being a longtime Tesla bull and EV advocate. Several of ARK's actively managedETFshave been investing in various EV stocks, and ARK Autonomous Technology & Robotics(NYSEMKT:ARKQ) just bought more of booming Chinese EV company Niu Technologies(NASDAQ:NIU).<-----

ARK sends out a daily email notification disclosing its trades, which is a unique practice for funds since institutional investors typically prefer to keep that type of information close to the chest. The company's daily disclosures from Monday and Tuesday shows that ARK Autonomous Technology & Robotics scooped up an additional 90,964 shares of Niu so far this week.

That was the first time in many weeks that the ETF bought more Niu stock. The purchases appear to be a minor reweighting than any major shift in portfolio strategy. As of Tuesday evening, the fund was holding just under 2 million Niu shares.

Riding the e-scooter wave in China
Primarily targeting the Chinese market, Niu develops a range of electric scooters that are ideal for urban micromobility. China has become the biggest EV market, including both passenger vehicles as well as scooters, thanks to a range of supportive government policies designed to promote EV adoption. Niu is capitalizing on the boom, posting strong growth in unit volumes as consumers snap up e-scooters.

Revenue jumped 18% in 2020 to reach $374.6 million, and Niu is already profitable with $31.9 million in adjusted profits last year. Total volumes in the first quarter skyrocketed by 273% to reach nearly 150,000, driven by retail network expansion in China as well as increased marketing. Earlier this month, Niu introduced a handful of new models, including its first electric kick scooter that the company also hopes to sell in the U.S. and Europe.

Niu expects total unit volumes to jump by another 50% to 83% in 2021 to reach a range of 900,000 to 1.1 million units.

lol :D

The thing to do with these stocks that you hold long term is you wait for days like earlier this week when the vix spikes way the f up and you sell calls into those juicey premiums. That's the best time to buy stocks, when you get two big down days like we had this week when the vix jumps like 50%. Buy that quality stock and immediately sell the covered calls. ISRG is the best stock in the world for this, using the weeklies.

Cathy stays confident on upside for Skillz stock
May 15, 2021 8:25 AM ETSkillz Inc. (SKLZ
  • ARK Invest thinks the recent recovery in share price for Skillz (NYSE:SKLZ) can continue as the impact of the short reports earlier in the year fade.
  • "We have stated our belief that claims against Skillz are grossly exaggerated or false and are confident in the company's position in the gaming ecosystem. Skillz is a leading mobile games platform that enables competitive esports style play. Leveraging its patented match-making technology, Skillz hosts billions of casual esports tournaments worldwide."
  • Highlighting the firm's confidence, ARK bought 441,784 shares of Skillz for the ARK Innovation ETF on May 12 and 964,450 shares on May 13.
  • On Seeking Alpha, author Star Investments thinks Skillz has extremely high upside for risk-tolerant investors.
  • "If over time, Skillz manages to broaden and diversify the number of profitable games on its platform, it will attract more paying users on to the platform and the stock will likely quickly blow past the highest current price targets by analysts if they can add additional profitable games besides the current top 3 games," reads part of the bullish article.

And all in all, Baird notes detection/mitigation tech is likely to get increased focus in the wake of the executive order. Specific technologies and key players there include PAM and CyberArk; data security and Varonis (NASDAQ:VRNS); and EDR and CrowdStrike.

The EO also is explicit about implementing multi-factor authentication at government agencies, and Baird agrees that's "crucial" to an effective Zero Trust strategy. Most notable here is Okta, though also deserving callouts are Ping Identity Holding (NYSE:PING) and CyberArk (NASDAQ:CYBR).

Kind of a strange move unless you know something... which Nelson usually does.
