Movie theaters in L.A. could reopen as early as Saturday,
CNBC reports 17:46 MCS, IMAX, AMC, CNK, NCMI, CNNWF California Governor Gavin Newsom said that if enough people in the state are vaccinated, Los Angeles movie theaters could be approved for reopening at a restricted capacity as soon as this Saturday, CNBC's Sarah Whitten reports. In order to reopen, counties in the state must have fewer than 10 new COVID-19 cases a day per 100,000 people and the state as a whole must distribute 2M vaccine doses to underserved populations, Whitten notes. Publicly traded companies in the space include AMC Entertainment (AMC), Cinemark (CNK), Cineworld Group (CNNWF), Imax (IMAX), Marcus (MCS) and National CineMedia (NCMI).
