The lifelong Angeleno worked as a media executive, lawyer and investor before arriving almost by accident at the bleeding edge of the latest finance movement.

Sloan is the former chief executive of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. and founder of SBS Broadcasting — once the second-largest broadcaster in Europe. He’s also a founding shareholder of Lionsgate Films and the former chairman of New World Entertainment.

More recently, Sloan is the founder of six Century City-based special purpose acquisition companies.

Astra begins trading on Nasdaq after completing Holicity deal 07/01 ASTR, HOL Astra Space, which calls itself "the fastest privately-funded U.S. company in history to reach space," started trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market this morning under the new ticker symbol "ASTR" for Astra common stock and "ASTRW" for Astra warrants after the company and Holicity (HOL), a publicly traded special purpose acquisition company, completed their previously announced transaction to take Astra public. Astra raised approximately $500M in cash proceeds from the transaction to "accelerate growth, expand its addressable market, and develop its space services platform." CEO Chris Kemp and Astra's management team will continue to lead the combined company. "With over 50 launches under contract, Astra will begin delivering customer payloads into low Earth orbit in Summer 2021, moving to monthly, biweekly, weekly, and daily launches by 2025," the company said.

Astra announces multi-launch contract and first Launch with DoD 09:05 ASTR Astra Space, announced a launch window beginning August 27 for its first commercial orbital launch with the United States Space Force. Following this launch, Astra is under contract to perform a second launch later this year. "We are thrilled to partner with Astra on this mission and believe this showcases critical low-cost, mobile and responsive launch capability," said Colonel Carlos Quinones, Director, Department of Defense Space Test Program. Space Force contracted the launch through the Defense Innovation Unit's Other Transaction Agreement with Astra. Space Force will be launching a test payload for the Space Test Program . "We're excited to kick off a multi-launch campaign with the Space Force" said Chris Kemp, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Astra. "This orbital demonstration launch allows our team to verify numerous upgrades to our launch system."
 
SO ECOR->20 PATIENTS NOT BIG... 31% REDUCTION IN PTSD... IS THAT WORTH HAVING SOMETHING IMPLANTED?

The study enrolled twenty patients suffering from PTSD. Study participants were exposed to personalized traumatic scripts followed by an immediate stimulation by an active or sham non-invasive vagus nerve stimulator (nVNS). The results show that three-months of treatment with nVNS lead to a 31% reduction (p<0.013) in PTSD symptoms compared to sham on the PTSD Checklist (PCL), as well as a significant decrease in hyperarousal symptoms (p=0.008) and a decrease in overall and somatic (gastric) anxiety. At the conclusion of the study, patients who continued to use nVNS for a further 3 month open-label period showed a significant improvement in their overall symptoms reported by the Clinical Global Index (p=0.003). Furthermore, nVNS effectively blocked the increase in the levels of the inflammatory cytokine IL-6 that is overexpressed in patients with PTSD
