Velodyne set to report Q4 results as more rivals go public - preview

  • Last month, Velodyne released a Q4 and 2020 preliminary snapshot, which included annual revenue of $91M, below the initial $101M guidance, and pulled the 2021 forecast due to the macro environment's "reduced near-term visibility."
  • Veoldyne said the number of signed and awarded contracts totaled 25 for the year. In the Q3 report, Velodyne had 24 total contracts at the end of Q3, suggesting the company picked up one in Q4 versus the 6 added in Q3.

The agreement will enable American Rare Earth LLC (or "ARE"), a wholly owned subsidiary of American Resources Corporation, to further develop and construct a much-needed environmentally safer domestic supply chain of critical materials.

Rare earth elements (REEs) include the 15 elements in the lanthanide series plus scandium (Sc) and yttrium (Y). They are essential ingredients for magnets, metal alloys, polishing powders, catalysts, ceramics, and phosphors, which are important for high-technology and clean energy applications. The global REE market is estimated at approximately $4 billion dollars and growing at 8% per year.

News of the agreement resulted in heavy trading of AREC stock today. As of this writing, more than 16 million shares of the stock have changed hands. To put that in perspective, the company’s daily average trading volume is roughly 3.58 million shares.

i did some short term trading on arec a few weeks ago...i think van flagged them? i can look up and see how i did with it. i remember that it felt like it had weird stock movements, like a little manipulation

AAOI will look to target a platform-building acquisition in the land holdings and resources industry that generates current revenues from its legacy industries, predominately focused on natural resources. This is van on Feb 5. Looks like I bought at 6.43 then sold a few days later at 7.87. Tried at the next dip to see if I could sell for a profit again, but think I broke even.
