When this whole mess started with Russia I thought what would I do as President?

It's a very difficult question. That's why I asked about Biden's remarks -- they may not of been a slip of the tongue.

But rather than bother with Russia I wonder if we could of sent a message to N Korea.
I think I would of attacked every facility in N Korea that makes these Nukes. We know where they are. I would of taken this opportunity to remove the N Korean threat. I don't think China would be that upset in the long run. They can still have their influence but it would be of smoldering wreck of a country.

She says he became the Mayan king by hanging from a tree with his arms outstretched for 40 days... I told her she misheard it's 4 days. Who's right>>
 
  • Europe's ability to sustain power supply in the face of a Russian gas embargo would rely heavily on coal consumption; coal already accounts for a large share of electricity production in Germany:
  • It's unclear how gas payment negotiations will be resolved; however, any reduction in Russian gas exports to Europe would provide a strong tailwind for domestic producers like Equinor (EQNR), Vermillion (VET) and NRT (NRT), as well as thermal coal producers like Peabody (BTU), CONSOL (CEIX) and Alliance (ARLP).
 
Potential commodity fallout from the Canadian Pacific rail strike

  • Canadian Pacific (CP) locked out 3,000 employees over a labor dispute, the Company is the 2nd largestrail business in Canada, with service extending as far south as Kansas City.
  • Last week, Nutrien (NTR) warned that it would need to reduce potash production if the shutdown were to last more than a few days; the statement came asf ertilizer prices in the US hit record levels.
  • Intermodal transport accounted for ~40% of Canadian Pacific (CP) carloads year to date, followed by grain (13%), energy (12%), coal (11%), and potash (5%).
  • Crude by rail has fallen ~2/3rds from pre-pandemic levels; however, rail barrels still deliver ~130kb/d of heavy oil to US refineries, and a sustained reduction in availability could support US oil prices (USO) (XLE) while pressuring Alberta hub pricing (CNQ).
  • Around 12% of US coal imports come from Canada, although ~95% of imports are metallurgical coal; suggesting an extended outage is likely to support pricing for producers like Warrior (HCC), while pressuring consumers like US Steel (X).
  • All forms of fertilizer are in short supply, and reduced volumes from Canada would further support pricing and revenues for US producers like CF Industries (CF), CVR Partners (UAN) and Mosaic (MOS).
