As far as homosexuals being allowed to adopt a child, I am against that. That will definately cause problems for the child as he grows up -- not to mention the torment in Jr. High and highschool.
That's like saying, "well, if we set a speed limit on this road, then some people are just going to break it, and we wouldn't want to force anyone to break the law, now would we??" Tolerance has to begin somewhere, my young friend...I agree that it would suck for the child, but you gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet.
Quote from aphexcoil:
I recognize that being gay is a disorder within the brain or is caused by extreme sexual abuse at a young age. They shouldn't be made fun of or discredited in any way in our society. They can make just as good of a contribution as anyone else. I have some friends that are gay. When they hit on me, they are told in no uncertain terms that I am not interested. Otherwise we all get along just fine.
Now that's a pretty dumb thing to say. I know some really smart gay people -- they have alot more going for them than 99% of the other people I know. They've never been molested or harmed in any way, and came from good families which treated them well and were OK with them being gay. Most physicians truly doubt that sexuality preference is tantamount to disorder. There are tons of straight people who were molested as well; and tons of bisexuals. You're confusing the issue here. Being gay is not a direct result of molestation. True, other things are, like sexual ambiguity and some forms of bisexuality, but there is no proven link between sexual abuse and homosexuality, even though the bible-thumpers invent statements like that up all the time, claiming it's a "medically proven fact."
Unfortunately there are no independent auditors for christian fundamentalists, so until there are, you probably shouldn't pay so much attention to what they say (another laughable invention of theirs is the statement that abortion gives women a medically proven higher incidence of some forms of cancer -- not true AT ALL!! C. Everett Koop, former surgeon general (appointed by Reagan), despite being strongly anti-abortion himself and receiving strong pressure from right wing groups to do so, never asserted that abortions ever caused ANY health defects to women, simply because they do not).
Be careful what you hear...especially when it's out of the mouth of somebody with an agenda...like saving your soul, baby!!! hahahaaaaaaaa
