+ 1That tariff was stupid, achieves absolutely nothing. America is not even a big importer of steel and at the same time it's a big exporter of value-added goods which is worth Billions of dollars more than steel. Happy now that everybody is putting tariff on Made in USA products? The industry that uses steel the most is prob. auto industry but for auto industry, the biggest cost component is the labour cost, unions.
Maybe you could point out to us all a specific example of "the EU doing it"? And to by crystal clear here, "doing it" means reneging on their word in the form of a trade agreement they signed with the U.S. and imposing tariffs that they previously gave their word not to impose, on some phony "national security" bullshit reasoning to boot.Funny how if EU and China doing it, then it is fine.
When the US do it then it is starting a trade war.
Here's the thing if you've actually negotiated much...anchoring only goes so far and absurd opening gambits are much more likely to signal your negotiating partner that you aren't operating in good faith and motivate them to tell you to fuck off than they are to provide you an advantage. Especially when you're breaking your word and violating a signed treaty, when your counter-party to that treaty has been honoring their word. It's far different to "negotiate" with an electrical contractor you plan to stiff anyway than when negotiating with the EU. Sadly the President doesn't seem to grasp that, his followers clearly don't, and one of the only guy's who did just left in protest of all this. It's still nothing more than a negotiating tactic. Canada and Mexico will be exempt on the NAFTA rework and the others need to bring something to the table.
He's not really looking for 25 and 10, but if he starts there and looks pretty hard ass about it, he'll get a lot more than if he went into this hat in hand.
I hate to admit it, but no drama Obama did certainly suck for volatility! As far as i'm concerned, Trump has been the best POTUS ever, he adds so much volatility, me and my bank account are really thankful.
