Maybe you could point out to us all a specific example of "the EU doing it"? And to by crystal clear here, "doing it" means reneging on their word in the form of a trade agreement they signed with the U.S. and imposing tariffs that they previously gave their word not to impose, on some phony "national security" bullshit reasoning to boot.
There are plenty of tariffs in the world, the U.S. has them and almost every other country in the world has them. Tariffs aren't what lead to trade wars. Breaking your word, wiping your ass with a signed trade agreement that represented the full faith and confidence of the United States of America, that's the dishonorable behavior that leads to trade wars. That's the behavior Trump is advocating. Do you support that?
It's still nothing more than a negotiating tactic. Canada and Mexico will be exempt on the NAFTA rework and the others need to bring something to the table.

Here's the thing if you've actually negotiated much...anchoring only goes so far and absurd opening gambits are much more likely to signal your negotiating partner that you aren't operating in good faith and motivate them to tell you to fuck off than they are to provide you an advantage. Especially when you're breaking your word and violating a signed treaty, when your counter-party to that treaty has been honoring their word. It's far different to "negotiate" with an electrical contractor you plan to stiff anyway than when negotiating with the EU. Sadly the President doesn't seem to grasp that, his followers clearly don't, and one of the only guy's who did just left in protest of all this.
I hate to admit it, but no drama Obama did certainly suck for volatility!
