Gann thread...

About Chaos Theory:

I actually did study Chaos. I'm not a professional at it but I remember reading about these College kids trying to find a Chaotic theory behind water drops from a loose faucet. Or was it at some presentation using water drops as their example? Then I think these IBM scientists found the Fractal theory from Chaos theory.

What is the "right" Gann material?

Goto Lambert-Gann publishing and read his original books then the courses. Then go through his recommended readings. You'll see a lot of esoteric subjects but the perspective you want to have when hitting these subjects are how these esoteric methods relate to science. Keep an open eye but interpret it critically.

You have to use a lot of micro and macrocosm analogy. Esoteric analogies to Science. Science analogies to Market. Also, hand-write your charts. Some people are against it but I'm with it. You'll get more through hand-written charts than charts on computer screen. Most of my "inspirations" comes from hand-written charts.

My thoughts on prediction:

Waste of time. Eventually, you have to wait till the bottom occurs to put your order in. Who would give your broker an order a month ahead? That's why I don't believe in economic analysts who says the market to pick on XXnd quarter of year 200x and things like that.

Don't try to predict with Gann, also. It's interesting but worthless. You just need to be good enough to know the trend of the market now.

For more on the Law of Vibration, read 'The Kybalion' by the Three Initiates. L. Edward Johndro is a good one to read also.

"How do I forecast future cycles?" you may ask. In order to forecast future cycles, the most important thing is to begin right, for if we have the right beginning, we will get the right ending. If we know the cause of the effect, then there can be no doubt about predictiong the future event or effect... Ezekiel 21:30-- 'Shall I cause it to return unto his sheath? I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity.'... If we make calculations from the date and place of birth, I think we can determine what our future is to be, and in this way live according to cause and effect, which is God's divine law." W.D. Gann, 'The Tunnel Thru the Air', pp. 78, 73, 74

Gann was first a statistician. He graduated from college, or hack school. The government used some of his work also.

Comment:

1. Forecasting Futures "Cycles". It's funny that we all know that cycles are repetitive and you mention that you "forecast cycles". Beginning right... meaning knowing the phases of cycles involved and knowing how cycles work.

2. You "think" we can determine... each of our fate??? Sharper, you should study Chaos Theory. Re-read Kybalion, ALL is the ONLY ABSOLUTE ORDER. Then what about our universe? Chaotic Order, isn't it.... (Kybalion is about Hermetic Philosophy, in Gann recommended reading list)

3. Please stop mystifying stuff with Bible quotations and vague conclusions ending it by calling it, God's Divine Law. As a matter of fact. Please give us a detailed explanation of God's Divine Law, if you can't explain it don't even mention it.

4. It seems to me that you know a lot but don't understand it. You seem to re-quote or re-phrase what others wrote. I think I've read someone use the quote on beginning right when using cycles... can't seem to find where...

1. I don't know much about Hermetics, though I know you're talking about it.

Yes, "The Kybalion", which is on Gann's recommended reading list, is a study of "the hermetic philosophy of ancient Egypt and Greece" by Three Initiates - the cover says The Yogi Publication Society, Masonic Temple, Chicago, Ill - can be downloaded here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gannstudygroup/message/49

I didn't write the comment which you are referring to. Gann did in "The Tunnel Thru the Air". Why would he make calculations from the date and place of birth?

Some choose to study the effect while some choose the cause also. Forward of L. Edward Johndro's book "The Stars: How and Where They Influence", "Every star in heaven communicates with every other star and with man, by sending out electrical waves... The method of communication is a wireless method. As soon as the waves from the star have reached the eye, they are guided to the brain by a network of nerves... It is much simpler to determine how electrical waves pass through space than to understand how their influence is transmitted over the nerves to the central brain, where the message finally is deciphered." by MichaelI. Pupin Feb. 19, 1928.

Johndro was an electrical engineer and is said to have been one of Gann's astrologers. Both of his books, that were widely published, are on Gann's recommended reading list.

An interesting link: Ray Tome's Cycles in the Universe - http://homepages.kcbbs.gen.nz/rtomes/index.htm

There are two universities in Italy also that are basically Gann Universities or study schools. I don't know Italian but they were translated for me when I asked about the universities - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gannstudygroup/message/109

There is a technical side and an esoteric side to Gann. He got more business using the technical side, but they all vibrate the same.

from yahoo site, look like he was an open mind fellow, he read anything in printed ;

this thread reminds me of the Creationist argument..

please don't say Gann's method is scientific...it's not..

Where is Richard Dawkin of trading strategies?

ok.. would you then be so kind to enlighten me about

gann, richard dawkin and the creationist...

I would assume you have study each of their arguments..

So by exposing my ignorance on the subject..

does it makes Gann 's "theories" any more scientific than b4?

sorry ...but you got to do better than that..

haa..

Hmmm... I guess I'm the one in here to answer(debate with) your thoughts.

Before my thoughts, I want to ask Sharper and others answer that with all the Bible and he said this and he said that quotes. Sharper, you just seem to give quotes and you have no point also... (sorry I wanted to re-edited my previous post)

Still, I don't know much about Richard Dawkins, I briefly know that he wrote something about Genes being selfish and they evolve to preserve themselves, and something about Mitochondria's Female Gender Gene and things like that.

As for Creationist, I just typed that in Yahoo! and read briefly about just now. OK, I see the debate of Dawkins(evolution) and Creationist (destined cause).

Interesting stuff... people please go ahead... I'll post my thoughts after them... *wink*
