True,But Carter had to spend money and time fighting Ted Kennedy in in a primary.If Obama had another drawn out primary with Hilary it would have cost his campaign hundreds of millions of dollars and a lot of votes in the general election

Having the advantage of not having to spend money on a primary ,travel and other expenses ,avoiding getting slammed and having division in your own party etc is a few of the reasons incumbents get re elected 70 % of the time and the best candidates(Christie) wait until they wont be facing an incumbent President to run

Yep, the GOP and Christie will wait IMO. Christie has some good stuff, we'll see how it pans out in 2016.

My guess is Romney knows how vindictive Trump is that if Romney wouldn't have publicly accepted his endorsement he was concerned Trump would attack him 24/7 like he did with Rosie O'Donnell /Obama's birth certificate.Maybe Romney was right just to accept it and get it over with in one day then have Trump on TV slamming him every day

Absolutely. The alternative would be to have Trump side with Newt. Trump is a billionaire. Not wise to piss off a billionaire if you are politico.
