Yes, I also think it's mostly either/or. What does not appeal to me about these complexes is that you can't take a muscle group to proper failure for maximum inroad during the course of such a complex. Also, and this comes down to personal preference, I like the idea of going briefly to the absolute max and then stopping, and then repeating the sequence on different exercises. So I like my weight room challenges to be thorough but brief. Such an approach also builds endurance albeit indirectly and almost certainly not to the extent of these complexes. That's why I complement my lifting routine with the burst training that follows. In its present configuration, I don't think one takes away from the other.
