Yeah, I've been doing HIIT quite a bit lately. Like today for example, I did 5 sets of lat pulldowns and 5 sets of jump squats to failure. For those that don't know, jump squats mean that you squat down all the way down and then jump straight up in the air so that both feet come completely off the floor. You can cheat with little baby jumps but the point is to really jump so that your feet come at least 6 inches off the floor. When you try to do them correctly like that, 20 reps of jump squats will burn you out pretty good. Alternating between the lat pulldowns and the jump squats had me pretty winded by the end of the workout. Total time: 21 minutes.
Nice! I'm sure that burnt you out quick. On top of HIIT, thinking of you saying lat pulldowns w/ jump squats. I read this workout a long time titled Dante's Inferno, the whole premise behind it was alternating between an upper body exercise and a lower body exercise. Their logic was your heart has to pump extra hard to switch back and forth from lower body to upper body exercises. Sounds like you are doing it right!
