After a long day of battling against some of the best players in the world it was Daniel Negreanu who came out victorious.
Earlier today Negreanu locked up the World Series of Poker Player of the Year title for the second time since having previously won it in 2004.
In April Negreanu won the WSOP APAC Main Event and today he won his second bracelet of the year and his sixth total tying him with Layne Flack, TJ Cloutier and Jay Heimowitz.
He took home €725,000 for his victory today and that’s just over a million dollars boosting his career earnings to $19.5 million.
At the final table Negreanu dueled long and hard with Philip Gruissem but ultimately the German pro was knocked out in third place. In the heads-up match Negreanu was the clear favorite with decades of experience on his poker resume. Negreanu grinded down Nicolau Villa-Lobos before ultimately knocking him out with jacks versus fives.

The Champion

was crowned in the early hours of Saturday morning after an epic heads up battle that lasted more than four hours.
Adrian Mateos beat local hero, Fabrice Soulier, on the 294th hand of the final table when he spiked a king on the turn to better Soulier’s flopped top pair.
Both men played their hearts outs and both were exhausted at the day’s conclusion. The French-flavored crowd were obviously disappointed but they paid the upmost respect

to a 19 year-old player who is a new bright star in the game.

They bettered a final table that included such luminaries as Dominik Nitsche, Jerome Huge, Ravi Raghavan and Benny Spindler.
That wraps up the WSOPE for another year. Who knows where the festival will rest in 12 months time.

Jay Farber and Ryan Riess To Battle for the 2013 WSOP Main Event Title

The 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event final table has been cut down to its final two players. Tomorrow, the second leg of the conclusion to this epic event will take place between Jay Farber and Ryan Riess. Each will be looking to etch his name in poker history as the 2013 WSOP Main Event champion and grab hold of the $8,361,570 first-place prize plus coveted gold bracelet.

Entering Tuesday's final day of play, Farber will start with the chip lead, holding 105 million in chips to Riess' 85.675 million.

Ryan Riess (USA)
Riess is a 23-year-old poker professional from East Lansing, Michigan who now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. Riess, a Michigan State University graduate with a degree in business, has cashed in 3 WSOP events for $30,569 with his biggest cash coming in the 2012 WSOP Circuit Main Event at Horseshoe Hammond in Chicago, where he finished in second place for $239,063. This was Riess' first time entering the WSOP Main Event, but this marks his fourth cash at the WSOP this summer. He has $309,478 in career live poker tournament winnings. Riess is the youngest player remaining at this final table.

Jay Farber (USA)
Farber is a 28-year-old Las Vegas VIP Host originally from Santa Barbara, California. This is Jay's second time playing the WSOP Main Event, having entered it for the first time last year. Poker is just a hobby for Jay, and his career earnings back that up. Farber has never cashed in a WSOP event before and shows lifetime poker winnings of just $2,155. That marks the least amount of earnings for a WSOP Main Event final tablist since the advent of the November Nine in 2008. The UC Santa Barbara business graduate enjoys travelling, sports and cars.
