FXCM Discussion

Quote from CalVolibrator:

is a trial for those mobile versions limited in time? I would love to take a test drive but I generally stay away from anything that is limited to 30 days or whatever.

FXCM demo accounts remain active as long as you keep using them. They are designed to expire after 30 days of inactivity. The same demo login will work for you on all three versions of Trading Station: desktop, web and mobile.

I did not find anything through a web search nor anything on your web site. Can you please point me to the relevant link?

The OP was actually asking about information he saw on our website regarding the FIX API.

If it's information about our institutional platform you're after, then it's best to contact our FXCM Pro division.

A new version of Trading Station Desktop is now available. There will eventually be an automatic update for all users, but today you have the opportunity to download the new Trading Station ahead of time. You will be able to retain your current platform settings (charts, layouts, etc.) when you install the new version of the platform.

We would love to get your feedback on the new version of Trading Station Desktop. As an added incentive we're giving away a free copy of the StrongWeak App from FXCMapps.com ($99 value).

For those of you who've asked me about it in the past, I wanted to let you know that we've officially opened beta testing for Ninja Trader.

FXCM has now completed a full rollout of the NinjaTrader platform. Additionally, qualified users can sign up to receive a free software license for the platform.

You can get NinjaTrader for free by opening an FXCM account with $5000 or more, and then trading at least 500k per month in round turn notional volume. If you already have a single broker NinjaTrader license and simply want to add FXCM, contact us at admin@fxcm.com for special instructions.

Have a great weekend! For those of you in Europe it's an hour longer :D

This coming Sunday, November 3rd, the clocks in the US will go back one hour, because of the end of Daylight Savings Time. That means the trading hours for forex and some CFDs will change in terms of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Below are the trading hours that will be in effect starting next week. Changes are highlighted in red.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Since CFD trading isn't available in the US, some of you have asked me how US traders can view charts for stock indices on Marketscope. One option that I've mentioned in the past is to register a demo with FXCM UK that allows you to view charts of CFD products. Another option, if you prefer to view these charts on your live account is to use the SHOWIDX.lua custom indicator from FXCodeBase. This indicator allows you to view the following indices on daily, weekly and monthly charts:
  • Dow Jones
  • NASDAQ
  • S&P 500
  • FTSE 100
  • 10 Year bonds
  • Bel-20
  • CAC 40

Jason,

you are a hell of of a sales manager. You did go through everything - and if I mean "everything" - I mean it !

FXCM went from principal model to ECN/STP ( not fully as every insider knows) - but let´s describe it "as ECN/STP".

If you should every look for a new job and Drew is "firing" is you - shoot me over an Email. I will hire you immediately!

;=)

You are the person that every employer is dreaming of:

In regards to our trade execution, when FXCM was founded back in 1999, we used to offer only dealing desk (DD) execution. That was the case for all forex brokers back then, and many brokers still only offer DD execution to this day. However, in 2007, FXCM launched No Dealing Desk (NDD) forex execution, where we offset all client orders one-for-one with 10+ liquidity providers. While FXCM believes that NDD execution provides the best all-around trading experience, we also offer DD execution as an option for traders whose primary concern is low spreads. This table has more information on our two forex execution options.
