It ranges from 6 hours (when market is very dead or when I hit the max loss level)

when market is hot, 10 hours or more might be required.
because there will be lots of signals throughout Asian Eur and US sessions.
but then our body our mind wouldn't be in good condition.

If we don't make hay while the sun shine, there wouldn't be any hay.
because next day, market might decide not to move and there might be no signal at all.

I trade the US session. I look the market since 8:30 a.m. and at 11:00 I should have finished.

Trading US time zone from Europe. CME halts trading between 10 and 11pm local time. Peak volume afternoon, then tailing off into early evening. Suits me well for position trading, does not interfere with sleep. or life outside in general. Could not do Aussie/EAsian time zone from here.

You always have to adjust your timings according to how the market is behaving. 10 hours is not over trading if the opportunity is demanding such time. But suggest to have proper balance with out-of-screen activities.
