now that everything is electronic and the trading floor is effectively dead anyone can act as a marketmaker to a point. I don't know the legalities.

If you have a trading account at any firm and post the best bid for an option then everyone in the world can see your bid on their screen. Very simple.

yeah but it aint easy peasy squeezy to buy the bid and sell the offer, if u dont make mkts in options, innit.
