Selling mystical crap to other people... sure, I guess that's a business model one could follow. I wouldn't find much to respect in it, but some people have made a fortune doing it. I shorted instead of long on a 200pt rally, watched the chart, high 5ing myself like crazy, checked the account errrr, account at margin level, no open trades WTF, went the wrong damn way, no SL set as was going to manually close BAD DAY!!! Lost $700 should of made $1000

Put in a trade on the wrong ticker a few times, sent an order that I meant to put into the Analyze tab on TOS that is still a position, I'll probably think of more.

I inherited a substantial amount of money. I put it all in my trading account. Instead of doing the normal 1,000 - 10,000, I did 100,000 and now had the money.

I did not realize it until the several days later, but I made a lot of money, actual more than a lot.

Once I realized my profits I sold my position.

Made an amazing amount of money. It is really wonderful to see the money in your account and know that you were stupid but it is still yours.

Problem - No checks of $100 million or more accepted. The IRS can’t accept a single check (including a cashier’s check) for amounts of $100,000,000 ($100 million) or more. If you are sending $100 million or more by check, you will need to spread the payments over two or more checks, with each check made out for an amount less than $100 million.

Not sure how to pay. I actually owe more

What is your funniest trade, or trading story you’ve got or ever heard? I’ll start with one

Iwas scalping down to the last second of a trading day, and waited until 3:59:57 to dump my position. In the heat of the moment, I got mixed up, forgot that I was short. Instead of covering, clicked “SELL SELL SELL...” until I’d margined up to my max, and the clock flipped to 04:00:00. Market closed!

My scream of “SHIT!!!” must have been heard for miles around.

Terrified that it might move against me and I’d get hit with a margin call, I scrambled to unwind the position in after-hours trading, and I took a real beating.

It did move against me the next day, and upspiked at the open. I would have been clobbered, margin-called. At the time I was close to the 25k limit, and also would have gone below and had my account limited to 3 trades in 5 days. Eek!

I had a similar experience. Dealing with a family medical emergency, a long flight, multiple timezones and lack of sleep. Entered an order in the wrong timezone, which caused it to not close on time, did not realize my error when checking, then many hours later added instead of closing as the price just went against me. Lost about 4k on this stupidity. After this I knew automation is the only way if your method can be automated.
