That confirms what I had read elsewhere, ie that Trump's immigration policy was a popular policy. It's a red meat issue for his base and to independents, etc the democrats' calls for abolishing ICE and open borders, sound quite radical. I know people who are nominally democrat but who are getting increasingly uncomfortable at how many immigrants there seem to be. Go to any major East Coast city and you could easily believe half the population are recent immigrants. I'm not singling out latin immigrants either. In some ways they are preferable to people we are getting from other places.

So on this issue in particular, the ground shifted earthquake-quick for establishment republicans. They went from being the party that favored immigration to the one promising a border wall and questioning why we should have so many H1B visas. Man7y have yet to get on board, no doubt in part because of the influence of big donors, eg Koch brothers.

So the popularity of Trump's immigration policy is a dash of cold water in the face for them. Do they recognize the inevitable and switch sides to Trump or do they wait him out, playing the long game? The problem with the latter option is they may be waiting him out from a K Street lobbying firm, because they lost their precious seat.

A number of no good liberal RINOs lost their seats. That is less liberals fighting President Trump at every turn. Somehow Democrats run as Republicans until in office to show their true colors! You have Arlen Spector, Lincoln Chafee, Charlie Christ, Jeff Flake, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Olympia Snowe, John McCain, John Kasich, Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan.
