Because Trump rallies have been peaceful you did not set up security barricades or order riot gear to be worn

I will need to hear more, but for the time being what I am hearings sounds a lot more like "we did not have a plan" rather than "our plan did not work even though we trained to it because that is what we do."
Never be a Capitol Police leader or Secret Service leader and tell me you did not have a plan for such developments. Never. That is what you are there for and demonstrations or intrusions arise every month that could get out of hand. It is well known, for example, to any idiot, that Iran wants to avenge Solemeni's death. They are always happy to see that the welcome mat is there for them at the capitol.
If more information comes out such as the Capitol Police wanted to do this or that but Trump or some senior type countered it or something, well, they can say that. But start coming up with something better right off, or else the entire senior tier of capitol police leadership needs to be moved out.
The Secret Service is another group that we like to support where possible but when you can't you can't. They, and under Obama especially, have had some real clown, frat-boy, culture problems that led to some serious lapses. We can't have that.
In a related matter, I keep learning that there have been no attacks on the U.S. capitol since the War of 1812. I guess the fact that Obama's buddy Bill Ayers bombed the capitol building does not fit their narrative so that gets swept under the rug a bit. But, yeh, lots of reasons for precautions.

I think the Secret Service did their job pretty well here, they got Pence out quickly. I believe that is the only person they were there to protect and did it quickly.
By the way..just so I dont get lumped in with blanket attacks.... I was calling out Portland and the others for sitting on their asses and doing nothing while those granola eating birkenstock wearing fucktards were controlling several city blocks (same ire was thrown at the Occupy Wall Street fucktards). BLM protests down the streets of D.C. were udnerstandable but when the idiot fringes started looting and breaking random shit, they lost their message (same in other cities like where the Wendy's was burned).
People who were there destroying property and such, easy to say, lock them up. But it will be hard to prosecute someone who just walked in as police moved barricades allowing access, who posed no threat and mingled with the police for selfies.
