From Micros to Millions: 2% per day

It sounds like you have a great system.

Certainly my goal is to trade without emotion, but it is not always possible. My real goal is to feel the emotion, recognize it for what it is, and GO THE OTHER WAY - but only at the most extreme fear and greed areas.

Well, I spent over a decade to learn and unlearn many stuff while building my own system. Then, I spent the following years to observe, understand and improve my system in order to see recurring patterns happening almost everyday..... So far so good and like others said, if it aint broke, don't fix it.

funny how there are hundreds of these a year , yet no one here ever gets rich (and can prove it )

Those who make it don't speak about it.

Those who miss it, post about it. If... you could have made... What's the use of posting that? Keep on dreaming... And in the profiles of some of them you read:fulltime or professional trader. Hilarious!

Hello sstheo,

Great work sir,

Questions please:

1. To reach your 2% per day goal, as your account grows, your daily profit goals grows, do you plan to trade more frequently to reach daily profit goals or increase contract size to reach daily profit goals?

2. If yes to increase contract size, what is your plan to increase contract size as your daily profit goals increase?

3. If yes to increase contract size, what is your plan to decrease contract size as your daily profit goals decrease? This is the case for possible drawdown that may occur.

Thank you,

As my account grows, I will be increasing my contract size to reach my profit goal of 2% per day. My average number of trades should stay similar.

My rules permit up to 1 micro per $1000 in the account. With $7000+ in the account right now, I can trade a maximum of 7 micros. If I get back on the $6k range then I will trade a maximum of 6 micros. Once I get to $8k (hopefully soon!) then I will be able to trade 8 micros. At $10k, I can trade 10 micros or 1 mini.

Thank you sstheo for the response.

I like your rules, the 1 micro per $1000 in the account makes sense.

Thanks

I haven't gotten very far on my goal past few days as the market has gone down and down. I have basically gone nowhere; I am up a net of $140 for the whole week. Whenever I made some progress I quickly got humbled again. I love the volatility, but my head was screwed on wrong...

My main problem was that I couldn't disengage my counter-trend (long) bias and couldn't believe that a reversal was not materializing. The biggest irony of all is that I have been predominantly trying to short this market since about June, LOL. And now that the bears finally attacked, I was fighting them instead of joining along with them.

The election is Tuesday and the virus is forcing more closures in my state and around the country. The prudent thing to do is stand aside for a few days. I will be back soon.

Just to restate a previous post-- I am not tied to my 2% goal. I am not stressed about being behind. The 2% is for fun. I can do 10% in a day if I set my mind to it. But I am trying to demonstrate and succeed at a LONG TERM approach to trading with a small account - without taking on too much risk.

Have a great weekend. And whatever your party affiliation, GO VOTE this coming Tuesday.

I may not be able to stay away Mon, Tue, or Wed next week. IF I do trade, I will keep it to just 1 or 2 micros, not the 4 to 5 I have been trading recently.
