H4M and Res2016.....Frexit is going to have a huge effect on the markets in the coming weeks. I deliberately didn't start this in P&R because even though its political, its going to profoundly influence the markets (Forex, futures, VIX, ETF's ...) in the near term and in that sense its very much trading related.

I know its a fine line, but can we please keep the thread geared toward the discussion of particular outcomes as they change day by day and ideas on how to play this market-wise and make $'s off of the Vol. This is a major money making event and it deserves some intellectual discourse. Hmmm. What am I missing here?
On this betting site, one can bet say $1 on each.... Mechalon, Le Pen, Fillon, and Macron.... picking one of the winners of round one on 4/23. Two will win.

The worst case scenario would be if Le Pen and Macron were the top two. In that case the pay out would be $4.66 off of $4 bet. The next best scenario would pay $10.66 assuming Le Pen is one of the winners.
Its a sure thing win... barring Le Pen winning outright and not needing a run-off.

Here's where your logic goes wrong. US has done horrible things, therefore anything Russia does = good (or better), how does that make sense? At least in US there's some level of checks and balances. In Russia, if you're with Putin and the ruling elite, you'll become a millionaire or a billionaire overnight despite having no qualifications. And if you're the enemy of these guys, you'll end up in jail or with a bullet in your skull (murdered by random Chechens, right!).

Have you completely forgotten the Soviet Union? It was created by Russians and you seem to know nothing about the history of Eastern/Central Europe from 1950 to 1990, what Russia did and how it did it.

So you're in Russia?
All leading superpowers throughout history have had many internal problems, it comes with the territory. US is probably the better alternative to play world police than say Russia or China though.

But back to the point. There are no good sides. Not in Russia and not in the US - they both commit human right violations. They both murder people. But when you blame Russia like they're some evil entity, you come off looking like a brainwashed idiot that's been eating western propaganda.

Not just the enemy of the US, you'd actually have to do some other horrible act. US has enemies all over the world and the capability to murder them but they're still alive, explain that.

In the US you can easily oppose Trump or any other president, not to mention other politicians - you don't have to fear that you'd be killed within months for that. Tell me how many enemies of Putin have mysteriously and conveniently been murdered, not just in Russia but around the world.
Every credible opposition politician, whistle-blower and journalist in Russia gets murdered, you'd have to be mentally challenged to not see the pattern. Last I checked, Snowden and Assange were still alive.
