the nefarious scumbag closed much of France public life for about 9 months during covid, but interesting nonetheless

President Macron is not far left. He's a centrist / liberal and his political party is the La République En Marche.

He has always had a problem with the far left political parties even when he was prior associated with socialist political parties.

I think the French Communist Party is about as far-left a political party can get in France and they're such a minority...many think they no longer exist.

the "far left" is really just the old center. The new dems are just "do nothing"/right of center party now.

There's a huge difference in the political spectrum between France and the United States besides the obvious that France has many more political parties that can classified easily whereas the United States has much fewer parties with individual members within the few parties that would easily fit into some of those Far Left or Far Right categories.

Simply, if something does not exist in the United States...one can identify a few political members within a party to then say...its "far left" or "far right" party. Just as importantly, those few members that do not agree with the overall agenda of the party or are publicly outspoken against their political party...

They are removed from key positions within the party.

In France, there actually are "Far Left" and "Far Right" political parties that walk the talk involving all the members in the party in which Macron has issues with.

If one want's to refer to Macron as "Left" considering his prior political socialism views...I'll agree with that but not "Far Left" with his history of fighting those political parties.
