Freezing up- Computer problem...Any advice ?

Just take the dam thing to computer repair shop. preferably tigerdirect, compusa, .....they typically have the best technicians and will find/repair the problem in one day.

Where's the fun in that?

Exactly. I really do enjoy diagnosing and learning good approaches from real experienced people here to find the solution to the issue.

I need a work computer asap so I purchased all the parts and will build it.
As I build it I will take some pics and post them along with getting the new computer up and running.

The computer that has the problems I can take my time with now until I find the fix and also I will learn some great stuff along the way.
Really great feedback has been shared in this thread and I am very grateful.
I can continue to post the progress with the intermittent issues so everyone interested can share and learn also.

Nkhio is correct an intermittent problem can be time consuming for a repair shop. Because of the age of the computer I would rather dedicate the money to a new purchase instead of time involved at a shop.

gotta ask... are you running a legit/legal version of W7 or is it cracked?

Have you done all of your windows updates?

Legit. It's an oem system builder I purchased
At Microcenter for about $149. W7 64 pro.
I did install all the updates which takes like two days to
get everything installed including sp1

i disabled my xp update......3 times the pc ask to restart in the middle of trading battle...also replaced Adobe reader with nitro pdf, for the same reason --want to update/restart during trading hour....

no more update pain :p

Agree... Once all necessary updates are finished with a fresh install I wait another week to make sure everything is caught up, I then disable autoupdates and update manually to prevent this during trading.
