"Free Range Parenting"

Forget the stupid label in the article calling things "free range", I'm not concerned with that.

It is, however, rather insane of you to suggest letting kids play on their own outside is dangerous without even qualifying what age the children are or where they are allowed to go, etc. You just simply make a generality that letting all kids go out on their own is a bad thing and risks abduction.

Since your moniker is not commonly involved in discussions in the politics forum, I didn't know where to group you on the political spectrum. I do appreciate you allowing me to classify you as a mental case with this. Thank you.

The age is IMPLIED in the term "CHILDREN" although I am more inclined to call you a child with comments like these
"I do appreciate you allowing me to classify you as a mental case with this."
Anyway, if you don't know what the term "children" means, I strongly suggest you to look it up in a dictionary or better, go back to school to relearn English.

They refer to a 10 year old in this article.

When I was ten, there was nothing better than to get out of school and come home and head out into the woods.

No need to worry about me. I almost always had my shotgun or .22 with me to get a couple partridge for suppah.

Awesome.

Like I said elsewhere I was hunting at 12-13 with my cousin - in heavy bush.

25 years later we take a holiday on my uncle's farm with my city grown eldest children (ages 8-12).
His place had no video games, no cable; but hundreds of acres of land, sheep, goats, cattle and bordering on public forest.
So we are there 5 minutes: "what are we going to do?" "there's nothing here" "this is boring".

I said, " take a walk over that far ridge and tell me what is there".
"What! Are you serious? We could get lost"

Unbelievable.

Sounds like dereliction of duty on the parents who are raising these namby pamby kids.

I am a tool? :D:D:D Can't even write, can you? You are that angry over a forum post? All right, Tsing Tao, you can go play over there, don't go far. Remember don't talk to stranger. Run if a stranger is trying to get you. :D

I suppose if I lived in Sweden I wouldn't let my kids go outside either.

It's YOUR kids that's going to be harmed NOT mine. If you look at all the cases of child abduction and murder, the majority of them happened on the child's way to/from school and playing outside unsupervised. But this thread is weird. It is about the passing of a law that ALLOWS children to play outside freely. If you all agree with it, WHY are you posting to debate about it? Too much free time I guess.

Anyway, I am done here.

Children should be allowed to play outside freely. There shouldn't be a law that says it, it should just be.

I'm not talking about a 3 year old. But, area dependent, a 10 year old for example should be fine to go out on his bike with friends in the neighborhood. Passing a law takes responsibility away from the parent, which sets an incorrect precedent.

But anyway, you're done here.
