Neither was i allowed to at my former job when clients would ask. The fear was that disclosing a small amount of short inventory(e.g. below 1 billion) would infer to clients that they'd be better served at a bigger brokerage.
Those with a big shortable inventory are usually looser with this number and more transparent than smaller brokers.
