Free MultiCharts in TWS !!

tradexsxx0001 - templates/load - that is actually the windows "Open File" Dialog box locking up for some reason - seems to be tied to something installed on the computer that hooks into Explorer. Should be OK after reboot.

different symbol types are implied by the symbols. MT has it's own symbol format. So symbols starting with @ are futures. Period = Options, etc.

News from IB - didn't see it in their API last time I looked. Did I miss something?

Windows on top - there are are a handful of settings on SETTINGS / APPLICATION / GENERAL that control the On Top stuff.

Quote Zone on chart - on the todo list.

Scanner - plan to integrate with Trade-Ideas (haven't had the time yet)

Adding another symbol to the chart - add "Compare To Symbol" Indicator... (can have multiple)
 
cool. @ESH16 is the format (one of many). picking symbol needs some browser or combo box with auto fill i guess. the naming convention is different in every broker:/
the compare to symbol is tricky. won't load VXX, VIX, SPY, then i added another symbol -> freeze. Selecting (x) Index -> freeze. Lots of forced restarts of this app (10 for me in 5min). I will reboot I guess.
 
Actually, the symbol format in MT is the same regardless of the broker. As for your issues, not sure were you got the freezes - the only one I am aware of is for some users with that file dialog box. Could you email me the details? (support@medvedtrader.com)

VXX, VIX and SPY - are those backfilled? In the portfolio? (though I believe we auto backfill by default)
 
Hi. after reboot, load dialog doesn't freeze. Now I know the symbol format, can load anything. Freezes are in "Parameters for Compare Symbol" window, when typing symbol, or when choosing Index radio box. 100% cases. I can check the website for it. Yes the symbols are backfilled.
update: what helped is remove comparisons and readd them to a chart. Now symbol is displayed, while it's not scaled good (in both [x] autoscale modes, either it shrinks main ticker or the compared ticker doesn't fit screen). Clicking on (*) Index still freezes app.

Index dropdown/radio button - I need to get rid of that - don't have built in index list at this time. However, that one should definitely not be causing lockups. When you select Compare To Symbol, it automatically brings up the Indicator Editor Window, but that window is non-blocking. If you click off of it, it will close. So it should never cause lockups. You are not able to click anywhere on the Select Indicator screen? Could you email me - I would like to resolve this issue. Thanks
 
i tried to used it realtime, but it's still a beta product. Besides freezes, i'm getting lots of "value was either too large or too small for an Int32", "object reference not set to an instance of an object" errors.. when expanding window the candles are zoomed as they are in small window (expanding to huge candles) instead of zoom to reveal more historical data. lot of noise in accout management windows. i performed real execution, order handling is poor yet, i tend to switch to TWS or Motiwave to fix.
because i'm not a tester, i will rather wait for updates and reevaluate later.
 
resizing/maximizing the window functionality is very much intended. MT has separate controls for chart period and frequency. The chart window size is only used for zooming, not for changing the period. In our experience, that is by far preferable approach. Most people prefer that once they get used to it if coming from systems that do it otherwise.

As for the issues, I am sorry to hear you had the errors, etc, but we can't fix them if not told about them, thus the request to email the export. thanks

i evaluated the new version. no crashes or weird errors. nice.
the problem is the actual trading - this won't work for real trading yet, but only mom and pop casual trading:) to be exact:
- slow chart trading, triggering could be done from the scroller, click in that area to buy or sell based on cursor position vs current price +- key modifiers to swap it or swap the order type; it saves 800ms of rightclicking on it (i dont use toolbar since its too big), or also saves 600ms on pressing shortcut (just 400ms is spent to find the modifier key CTRL).
- changing order type is very slow. it requires "T" keypress (which sometimes trigger typing of ticker instead !), and it goes through too many choices. the good solution is to use modifier Ctrl/Shift/Alt to change between the most common types: LIMIT, MARKET and STOP.
- minor: double clicking on order type could bring combo box with order types instead of need to rightclick. Kinda inconsistent UI control.
- no brackets.. no brackets.. no bracket.. this is missing. ultra risky, what if the equity/whatever will crack before those order are slowly added?
- when order was added from TWS, it cannot be changed. altering price triggers error: "IB SERVER RESPONSE: Order modify failed. Cannot change to the new Time in Force:GTD". It's a GTC order and of course i don't change anything but price.
- related to previous point: changing between GTC and GTD triggers the same error. in TWS, i can definitely change it.
- when order is set up in MT, and price changed, it's ignoring [x]Arm/Auto-Transmit if you know what i mean
- also an order submitted in MT, when price changed, it will create a duplicit order in TWS...
- when order created in MT is deleted, it won't really delete
- there should be (configurable) quantity buttons everywhere.. ideally with a keyb shortcut
- the toolbar trade panel and trade ticket window should both contain BUY MKT, SELL MKT, CLOSE (!), REVERSE (!) and of course ADD BRACKET (!).
- current pnl and position should be visible on the chart, of course
- account information should also be everywhere, and obviously in the tiny "(i)" info box whose hint claims to "Display full order info", but how can it be full without the account number
- can't load asian futures like HSIG16 NKDG16 - they show their descriptive name however no chart is loaded
- can't search for tickers
- annoying confirmation of deleting alert line
- 3TT indicator is cute, but it draws too many lines (i've tried milions of combinations of parameters), it should only pick the lowest/highest anchor for the first anchor and not all possible neighboring candles
- just repeating myself from previous posts, but it's constantly annoying: Compare to Symbol tickers won't be scale, they should all fit in within the timeframe and have left scale clearly showing the whole range WITHING the shown timeframe
- the option chain and option search window: near money is not 30$ off for SPY, really. this is so annoying i wouldn't bother trading options if i have to scroll hundred records each time
still too beta for me, but looking fwd for changes for day traders! thanks.
 
Trading won't work except mom & pop - well, that I have to say is very subjective. Some of the people who contributed to it and use it every day do 300 to 500 trades a day, which would definitely put them out of the mom & pop category.

Changingt order type - you can right click on ordertype and see a menu of types to select from as well as Time in Force, AON, FOK options.

Brackets - on our todo list.

GTC/GTD issue - will look/fix.

What price would change? Please email us at support@medvedtrader.com to give details (this is really not an area to troubleshoot)

"when order created in MT is deleted, it won't really delete" - if you transmit the order, it is a live order. There is no delete. you can cancel it, in which case it is handled like a normal cancel. Don't know what you mean by won't delete.

While in "drop" mode - to drop the order, you can use the keyboard up/down arrows to spin the QTY or use the mouse wheel.

Balances / account info on charts - yes, on the todo list.

(I) info is about the order. Account is in the ribbon (or you can add it to the QAT if you wish to see it when ribbon is hidden)

Delete alert trendline confirmation - will look at removing that (optionally)

Compare To Symbol - you can select to adjust scale or not adjust scale in the indicator parameters. unless I am not understanding what you refer to.

i am just challenging you to improve it since i find the software promising. Would not have wasted time otherwise. I've sent you an email.

orders sync TWS<->MT very bad
few more bugs sent in email, one more here: when PC suspends, resumes, MT switches to primary screen. and because it's multi window design (unfortunately), have to pick each of many windows and move them back. yes i can save the layout, but hardly anyone would save it every 10 minutes.
cool to have mouse wheel change qty!, now ctrl/shift/alt could change type, that'd make it similar as in almost every competitive product
