The comment was in a humorous vain not nasty , although I see how you took it that way. You can see this kind of music in many clubs in L A any night of the week so it's not new to me. It has been around for at least 5yrs now, It's surprising to me that it continues. I don't neccessarily think it's bad and I certainly don't judge any product via my personal taste.

There's a generational morphing of culture underway that is huge. I can see this music working in it to some degree. Markets are splitting into more and smaller niches but the niches are large enough to support a market.

This is black sabbath and Rage against the machine, actual good bands with original sounds, put in a blender with a pint of crap and screamed by some dolt who evidently thinks death metal was a good sound.

Anyone notice, the striking similiarity of a small portion of that, sounding so similiar to the dance celebration scene in zion, from the matrix?

Er, maybe i missed something, but what music are you referring to?
The welsh and spartans sang, with drums, lyre, flute, the zulus sang deep, rhythmic rich (and melodic) war songs and chants, the scots (and irish) with bagpipe and drum, even the maori haka is very far from "wild, non melodic" sounds.
Of course, were anyone to take issue that bagpipes are wild or non-melodic as such, i wouldn't argue the point, i just happen to like them.

Thus 99% of the music that is POPULAR sucks large. Worse now than ever, I think the 99% figure is recent, used to be low 90's.

There is actually good music to be had, but it must be sought out like rare wine.
