Summary:

  1. France wants a digital tax that would directly affect Facebook, Google, and other large US companies by taxing them for doing business with French citizens. The reasoning being that the companies in the US are not playing by the same set of rules and in order to collect revenue and "even the playing field" France should have a right to tax them.
  2. The US is owned by the technocracy and they are not fond of this.
  3. The US proposes counter-tariffs (conspiracy: at the behest of the technocracy) in retaliation for trying to even the playing the field.

If you ever wondered if the US is owned by Google et al. I hope this is your wake up call. Instead of getting up in arms at something ask who the man behind the tariffs is.

This website talks about it (with a pro-US company spin). It's protectionist, according to the website, because if I'm reading correctly French companies can write off the tax while non-French companies cannot.

I really don't see a problem with this tax. The US is overreacting and potentially damaging a friendship with an ally in order to protect billionaires. Unsurprising anymore, really.
