It's you who doesn't understand. We would need to leave the EU even if there was no referendum. We don't identify with the EU or its ideals. We opted out of pretty much everything. No UK govt will ever join the EU Army. Or the Euro. Or sign up to the Common Treasury. We are against further integration. That includes the people who voted to remain. What's the point of staying?

The only role we have in a political sense is to block Germany and France from trying out their crazy schemes. As mentioned before, that's one reason why other smaller less dominant countries want us to stay e.g. Holland. Only the UK is able to confront both France and Germany. Greece tried it some years ago and were crushed like a bug. Italy is having on going problems with the EU...but they too will be silenced.

As Danniel Hannon, one of the architects of Brexit said, "The UK will be always be terrible tenants, but great neighbours." That's what the EU has to realise.

France has always been in wars with all the other nations throughout history because it never looks at the bigger picture. Seriously, READ!!! If you can't read, take some literacy classes!! Honestly EU is becoming an German-Franco Empire with the rest of the countries as colonies to more and less degree. UK just doesn't want to be part of it anymore and soon the rest of the member countries one by one would see the truth and will leave EU one by one until Germany and France are the only two left.

I haven't been back to Paris recently, so can't share first hand experience on the situation, but the news mention the biggest riots since 1968 and longer than in 68 already.

There were already snipers on the roofs in Champs Elysees last week end, although they didn't shoot (see video in the link below).
Not sure about the elite soldiers, but Macron seems to be calling in more anti riots units for next week end, probably adding specialization as the demonstrations go on, and using soldiers from the anti terrorist forces. There have been soldiers patrolling Paris streets for years though, but last week end sure looked ugly downtown, I can understand how you would take the piss from across the channel. France has a chic to get itself into huge social unrest.

Paris is a war zone. Good luck to any bankers moving from London. Buy some anti riot gear before you go is my advice!
 
The official petition site of the British parliament has been struggling all morning and afternoon with hundreds of thousands of citizens asking to cancel the Brexit and stay in the European Union. Around 12.30 pm more than 760,000 Britons had already signed the petition.
