Although I believe the President should be willing to take questions, this reporter did ask questions that were not relevant to the big news story and purpose of the meeting that was being covered: Trade negotiations with the EU. This reporter asked Cohen questions instead.

She blew it and the "slap on the wrist" of not being allowed to attend the next press conference is reasonable. A permanent ban would not be.

The White House might schedule an "open session" with the media concerning general questions as it is apparent that some in the media feel they are not getting enough access to the President.

Trump has generally shown he can at least hold his own in addressing questions, but apparently does not want to waste time with questions that are not relevant to the event taking place.

Not like Trump vacillates, talks incoherently and just free wheels it, spouting total lies during questions or an interview.
The reporter was probably just trying a new interviewing technique with him. You know, ask about the weather and get a response on tariffs....

A good Trump response might be "Thank you for your Cohen question, there are big bombshells coming, believe me". "There is cause for optimism in our NAFTA negotiations, the Europeans are coming around, and China will likely want to jump on board as well with stable trade relations". "After all, The United States consumers are the biggest spenders".
