Fox News Channel, owned by Rupert Murdoch's Fox Corp, has dominated the rating books since the start of the 21st-century, but over the first two weeks of 2021, it has averaged fewer viewers throughout the day than both CNN and MSNBC, and the numbers have been especially stark since the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and the subsequent impeachment of President Trump.

While Fox News has dominated cable news for the better part of 20 years, it has also been the most-watched basic cable network for the past five years, with its highest ratings ever in 2020.

Yet Fox's ratings have dipped since Election Day, with average viewership reportedly down approximately 20% compared to pre-November levels.

Over the first full week of 2021 (Jan. 4 through Jan. 10), CNN ranked first among cable networks (roughly 2.8 million viewers per day; 4.2 million in primetime) followed by MSNBC (2.3 million per day ;3.8 million in primetime) and Fox News in third (1.7 million per day; 3.2 million in primetime).

Over the first two weeks of 2021, Fox averaged nearly 800,000 fewer total day viewers than MSNBC, and around 1 million fewer than CNN, according to Mediate, and every day since Jan. 4, Fox has trailed both MSNBC and CNN in the crucial age 25-54 demographic.

Jan. 6, the day the U.S Capitol was ransacked, was CNN's most-watched day in the network's history, and in primetime that evening, CNN averaged 8.2 million viewers, nearly double the viewership of Fox News (4.6 million).

As Fox goes more left it ratings will follow all the other companies which paved the path before it.

Murdoch's son is a fool if he thinks Ryan is capable of providing him good advice.
Ryan is a dim witted pawn who cares nothing about the taxpaying US people... which is the "paying" part of Fox's audience (or was) .
The guy got crushed by Joe Biden in a debate.
His answers to press questions (and the debate questions in particular) manifest(ed) a slow mind and a deficient level of intelligence. The guy could never get extra bases out of softball questions, yet alone knock them out of the park.

It seems Ryan is part of the destruction of Fox Daytime and that can't help but bleed into the nighttime.

Kind of crazy the way lefterrhoids are touting high viewership ratings for CNN and are happy with themselves over it.

When in fact, the real story is the fact that the leading news driver/creator of viewers has just left office. CNN should hire Trump as a contributor. Little joke there - OR NOT.

Not sure I would get too happy about CNN just yet if I were a lefty. The other thing - and we may be seeing a little of it right now- they may start turning on other politicians such as Cuomo in order to keep the only model they know alive. Not saying they will ever turn on another politician the way they have on trump but they clearly do not know what their agenda is now with the center of their universe mostly gone so I expect them to flail around and try out some goofy stuff.

Also, Fox will continue to lose viewership over to Newsmax and OANN as we go forward. Again, if I were a lefty I would think twice about getting happy over that too.

The real action lying ahead for CNN is when it goes totally in the shiiter and Jeff Bezos buys it. That will cause a reshuffling of the deck and have to assess it from there.
