Fox News War on Journalism

Quote from OPTIONAL777:

Perhaps Fox online is less so, because it requires the ability to read...

Fox News on TV doesn't require literacy.

It is an established fact that the way in which the brain processes information through watching, versus reading is quite different.

Also, with information in print, it is easier to get caught in falsehoods.

I just hope that they still teach our kids "don't believe everything you read (or watch)", because we have a generation or two now that does ALL their reading and watching online. In the old days there was at least a bit of a hurdle getting one's thoughts out in public. Not to mention the problem of ignoring opposition viewpoints--it's never been easier. (Yes, I see the irony.)

It is the information/misinformation age.

Shame really.

Quote from Ricter:

I think Fox on cable is biased, but Fox online less so. It's easy to find bias on either medium, though, for most points of view.

Bingo!

What i find funny about it all is that even though Fox presents news from a conservative point of view, it really doesnt change much, the people who tune in to fox in general are people who are political, and lean one way or the other, and for the most part they understand that they are tuning into a news network with a conservative bias before tuning in, and they are there because they love it or because they hate it. They are there though because they are interested in political topics. Same goes for MSNBC. So these networks really are not going to change any ones opinion very much either way.

The ones which present a real danger of warping peoples opinions are the news networks that people who are not big into politics tune into, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, HLN. because the people who tune into these networks dont even necessarily realise their opinions are being warped, and they dont really know much about politics aside from showing up to the voting booth once every 4 years.

A good example of this would be my own mom, who only watches CNN, and actually voted for Stephen Harper. Last time i was in Canada i was talking U.S. politics with her, and the only thing she had to offer to the conversation was that Sarah Palin was a bimbo, and that Tea Partiers were extreme. She also loves Obama, but she doesnt have any real understanding of any of the stuff going on in the states. And this is from a woman who regularly pulls the lever at the voting booth for conservatives in Canada.

I agree, generally speaking the opinions of people who have already figured out where they stand politically arent going to change much, but its kids, and people who dont know much about politics or what is going on, who are in danger of being persuaded by the bias in all the media these days.

Quote from OPTIONAL777:

Notice how quickly you attacked me, as you had no defense for your admiration of criminal activity?

Do you know the logical fallacy when you try to defend your own weak position by attacking someone who points it out?

Your suggesting that there are no businesses that are not organized crime, is well, daft.

The suggestion that all business is criminal...sorry man, but that is terribly wrong.

Really, please at least try to present a reasonable point.

It is okay if you want to backtrack and admit that admiration of organize criminal activities is not something to admire.

Where did I attack you 777? U noticed something about me, I stated that I noticed something about u. Where is the attack? Please post it.

Quote from OPTIONAL777:

Do you know what fraud is? Do you admire organized fraud? Do you admire organizations that perpetrate fraud and deception on the general public for the good of the organization, and not the good of the public?

Fox claims they are fair and balanced...what is fair and balanced about Fox News?

Again I would ask u to name a business that is free and clear of the practices that FOX uses. U failed to answer that question.

"The fact that you make judgments says a lot about u as well 777."

I attacked your position as admiring organized criminal behavior.

So what do you do to defend your position?

You play Pee Wee Herman...

I suggest you give up on this battle, Optional777 will never give an inch on his position even when proven wrong. Everyone here can see you didnt "attack" him, but in his mind, he has taken that stance and he will stick by it and argue till you give up just for the sake of argument. He gets off on this stuff. Not only that he will throw out a quote like the one seen below while in the process of doing exactly what he attacks someone else for, just to screw with you some more.
