Hi Sprout:
I am not a JHPV guru, far from it. At best, I am a JHPV rogue at it's most flattering definition.
I use pieces, which are extremely complimentary used along side my own time-tested but unrelated methods. Specifically as far as JHPV, I use channels ala 1-2-3-ftt, the volume sequence, PRV and volume bands.
That said, I believe you are wandering down a black hole, not to be confused with a rabbit hole. You yourself have already mentioned IBGS (Inter Bar Gaussian Shift). And elsewhere it has been pointed out that bar charts, time-based or not, are merely bundles of information, which applies to the price pane as well as the volume pane.
Now, factor in the various volume elements; waits, repeats (new), kills, gates, failsafe, etc, and you have an infinite number of possibilities, hence, the black hole.
My intent is not to dissuade you from finding your own aha's, not at all. I merely want to remind you that 1) there is no holy grail, JHPV included, and 2) for many, focus on minutia stifles usability and growth.
For simplistic clarity of some items I've mentioned, I've included a few attachments.
