Transgender controversy spills over into another sport...
Skateboarder Taylor Silverman rips trans competitors who win: ‘Unfair’

A female skateboarder is flipping out at transgender athletes who are allowed to compete in women’s events — saying it’s costing her thousands of dollars in prize money.
“I am sick of being bullied into silence,” Taylor Silverman, 27, complained on Instagram Wednesday, already landing more than 17,000 likes, as well as a flurry of attacks accusing her of being transphobic.
Silverman, from Kalamazoo, Michigan, complained that she has competed in “three different contests with trans women, two of which I placed second.”
She shared a letter she wrote to Red Bull complaining about the “unfair” competition she faced at last year’s Cornerstone competition, which skateboard blogs say was won by trans skater Lillian Gallagher.
Video posted to YouTube shows Gallagher taking home a trophy at the event in Lincoln, Nebraska — with Silverman and another skater on smaller podiums beside her.
The YouTube clip from December’s competition shows Silverman appearing somewhat sullen on the podium before shimmying her award and skateboard for the fans and competitors in attendance.
“A biological man with a clear advantage won the women’s division, best trick, and also won multiple qualifiers,” Silverman wrote in the message.
Gallagher, whom Silverman did not name, took home $5,000 for her performance, which included “Best Trick.”
“This took away the opportunity that was meant for women to place and earn money,” Silverman wrote to Red Bull Senior Sports Marketing Manager Erich Dummer.
“I deserved to place first, be acknowledged for my win, and get paid,” she said, complaining that she “was ignored” by Red Bull.
Silverman received a steady stream of supportive messages, with some calling for boycotts of events where trans skaters competed.
“I’m proud of you for speaking up!” another skateboarder told her. “Live your truth, and always stand for what you believe in, just as everyone else should.”
However, she was also thrashed in a flood of angry messages accusing her of being a sore loser and transphobic.
“‘I’m not a transphobe’ says transphobe, after tagging every transphobe they can think of in their transphobic post,” one person wrote.
Piers Morgan — who interviewed Silverman on his new TV show Thursday — said that “the abuse that she got from the trans community was appalling.”
Blogger Christina Buttons tweeted that “the amount of vitriol Taylor Silverman has received is exactly why more women don’t come forward when biological males enter their sports category.”
“Every hour, 100’s of abusive comments come in for every few offering support,” she noted.
She called Silverman “incredibly brave for speaking up to defend her sports category. Not many can tolerate the onslaught of abuse she’s endured.”
Some of the support she did get, however, should help her — with blogger Tim Pool saying his Timcast “will gladly cover the difference and grant Taylor Silverman the $2250 difference lost.”
“We will also be willing to cover the total lost revenue for the female athletes who would have placed higher were it not for the male athlete,” Pool tweeted.
Neither Gallagher nor Red Bull appear to have responded to the criticism. Red Bull did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The entire situation with biological males competing in female sports has reached the point of absurdity. First it is undermining the gains that female athletes have made over the decades when anyone can declare themselves a female and compete against the ladies. Second it is dangerous to females. It is time to put a stop to this nonsense.

The Cherokee County Board of Education in North Carolina voted last month to forfeit girls volleyball games against a rival school after a transgender athlete reportedly injured a player with a spike.
The board voted 5-1 Sept. 21 for Hiwassee Dam High School to forfeit all girls volleyball matches against Highlands School after a Hiwassee Dam player reportedly suffered head and neck injuries from a spike from the Highlands transgender athlete.
"The county will not participate in any volleyball games, varsity or junior varsity, against Highlands due to safety concerns," the board said.
David Payne, Hiwassee Dam's athletic director, supported the decision, and Vice Chair Jeff Martin felt that "there is a competitive advantage and a safety concern for certain teams — it’s not the same for all teams."
Payne believed "a statement needed to be made and that it's unfair and unsafe" while also saying there were "mixed feelings" from players and parents about facing Highlands in the future.
Board member Joe Wood said the decision was made based on safety, not gender.
The board member who voted against the move, Keesha Curtis, "believes all school principals and ADs should make that decision."
The Hiwassee Dam player is still suffering from long-term concussion symptoms and has not been cleared to play, according to Education First Alliance.
Transgender athletes competing in women's sports has become a controversial topic, especially after Lia Thomas, a biological man, won an NCAA championship in women's swimming earlier this year.
Several states have passed laws requiring athletes to participate in sports based on their biological sex
