Foreigners are fascinated with our politics. Why?

Quote from Kassz007:

She put herself in a position to be lucky...
Correction: She was placed by others (McCain) in a position to get lucky. It was not of her doing. She was the right sparkle to be placed in front of an unblinking crowd. Lucky.

Quote from Gabfly1:

Only an unthinking fish drawn by sparkles would draw such a comparison.
So fish and sparkles are your theme du jour?

LOL :D

You make Palin look smart. No easy task.

It is smart to be opportunistic and throw dignity, morality, and a sense of what is right away...just to make a buck?

That really crystallizes everything that is wrong with capitalism in America today...

There was a day when being smart meant to do the right thing...not to debase yourself and your family for money...

Quote from Kassz007:

Yes! If that "bimbo" uses her situation to make a nice living for herself, she is SMART. In my opinion, Tiger's "bimbos" are stupid if they DON'T take advantage of their situation.

Values and ethics are a seperate matter.

Quote from Gabfly1:

Really? How so?

I said Palin is smart for taking her situation and turning it into great wealth.

She was smart enough to write a book she knew thousands of people would buy, and she was smart enough to know that people would pay ridiculous prices to hear her speak. She capitalized on that. Where does ethics come into play here? I don't know what her policies are on most topics she speaks about, and I don't care. I just know she took a situation where she was the butt of every joke and created great wealth for herself out of it. Pretty smart.

Quote from Ivanovich:

Yes, but not the reason you're thinking of. They're waiting for the right time. It's too early to step forward and fizzle out or give their opponents good lead time on defeating them.

Make no mistake, Palin is a goon, but what she says (for the most part) appeals to a LOT of people. A lot. And people who are angry are not going to be concerned with Republican missteps unless there is a serious one. As thing stand now, the left is going to be erased in November. I think they know it, too.

Yep. A lot of anger out there. And they (the left) are not doing anything to help calm it down.

No. McCain did not appoint her governor of Alaska. McCain did not write a book for her.

You're arguing with me here as if I am a Palin supporter. I don't like Palin. But she is smart for creating such wealth for herself, regardless of her political views. I don't know why you can't admit that.

Yes, the Right is all about tolerance and level-headedness. :p

No, it is smart to make the best of a bad situation. Would you think differently if the "bimbo" used the proceeds from her book to donate to charity? Then would you consider her smart?

Being opportunistic is the very definition of capitalism. What's wrong with capitalism is people like you who are angry at those who create great wealth for themselves. Damn those "capitalist fat-cats".

I don't know, I am conservative but my entire family were Bush supporters and I was ridiculed for seeing him for what he was back in 2002. Never did like him and thought he was a blue-blood smart ass. So you cannot define all conservatives with the same brush.
