What kind of network card did that unit come with?
Dont see network cards listed on many of the units in the business outlet site under Vostro line

Almost all mobos come with a network "chip", so a separate network card is not necessary.

the 80GB disk is a VERY OLD disk. You pretty well have to replace it with a new one (~$100),
then reload the OS (2hrs),
add 1GB memory (~$50).

After $850 and 2hrs of work, you still have a used machine.
 
Although the upgrade to the E6750 appears to be exorbitant on Dell's website, an equivalenly priced new one is $1,127.

The refurb appears to be a decent deal.

For what it's worth, the refurbished Dell machines are less than 21-days old.

As for your concerns about the hard drive being "very old" I would suggest that there aren't many trading software applications that are written with high demands of the hard-drive.
