Since ahteist are skeptics of everything, I would be willing to bet very few would donate to a relief cause unless they first see scientific proof of where and how their donation will be distributed. Surely they are not going to donate on just faith that the money will end up helping others.

Maybe we need to say these few pledges more often.
To the Bible:
I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God's holy word,

Maybe "we" should stop messing around with stuff like the Pledge of Alligence.
Maybe "we" should be a little more American. A little more inclusive, a little less sectarian and a little less of a discriminatory christian bore.
The 1923 Pledge will do just fine.

The world is basically mind, divorced from spirit, pledging it's allegience to the concept of body, arising out of it's own machinations. Mind then goes to work on securing the concept of bodily freedom. First of all, this is an impossibility, since the body is a limited concept. Second, it takes vast expenditures of effort, ingenuity, problem solving...essentially distracting the mind from the truth about itself. In this way it begins to express weakness, powerlessness, and confusion. For this reason, the concept of the united states of bodies is inherently unworkable. True union is made impossible by the bodies imposition, so any collective is going to be symbolic. Assuming it is weak, the body-mind paradigm gives the mind's power away to external saviors, as for example, to a large national defense system.

Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died from the wounds or the hardship of the Revolutionary War.
What kind of men were they? Twenty four were attorneys and jurist. Eleven were merchants; nine were farmers and large plantation owners, men of means and well educated. But they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death, if they were captured. They signed, and they pledged their lives, their fortunes and sacred honor.
These were not wild eyed, rabble rousing ruffians; they were soft spoken men of means and educated. They had security but they valued liberty more. Standing tall, straight and unwavering, they pledged;
"For the support of this declaration with the firm reliance on the protection of the Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives our fortunes and our sacred honor." They gave us an Independent America! The question is can we keep it?
More and more of our freedoms are being eroded everyday and we are fed other news to blind us what our government is doing; most fall into one of the two categories; to dumb to realize or just don't care.
