food riots by 2012?

Quote from achilles28:

Go read what the Founders wrote. Go read the Constitution. The entire Constitution was written to prevent Elites from seizing Autocratic Power.

Once again, you're off base.

I guess it's that conspiracy-theorist-guide-to-the-world view that you've subscribed to.

The Constution's central tenant was to control the power of the central government.

One of it's most unique powers was one that was forfeited in 1933, the right to demand gold for dollars.

Before Roosevelt confiscated our gold and prohibited ownership fo same the people had the absolute power to control how much government could spend because it was directly tied to our gold reserves.

As for elitism. You need to check your history. The only ones who could vote for the longest while when this country was first formed where those who owned their land free and clear of debt.

Personally, we fucked that one up as well.

I wish that we could go back to something like this. I really don't like the fact that a deadbeat welfare recipient's vote is equal to mine.

Quote from apak:

while most of you will react emotionally I can react intellectually

there are few things on this world that can cause such a devastating situation

1. natural disaster causes food shortage and chaos

2. complete collapse of the financial system

3. World WAR III

number 1 and number 3 don't seem likely at this time

But think my ET friends with your pretty little heads, what IF US dollar was suddenly worthless overnight

do you really think it can happen to all the other countries but not to Rome

oh no nothing ever can happen to Rome

think China and its ability to sell the dollar

think it CAN NOT happen ???

whole lot of you are just dreamers

why would china sell the dollar? they're still an exporting nation

Quote from flyingiguana:

Why is for you to ask

and for me to know

"why" is what separates them from us, you from me

why is the only real source of power, without it you are powerless

and so that is how you come to me

without "why"

without power

another link in the chain

OK now a simple answer for you to comprehend

change is the only constant

oooppss is that too complex for you

do I need to simplify even more

OK

China will not be exporting at this pace forever, and if pushed over the edge by US sabotaging Taiwan China relations, they could hurt themselves just to BURN the US

do you really think that all people in the world think only about short term money like the Americans

You do not understand the Chinese, and neither does your bellowed Bush who you voted for.....admit it

It all depend what the military who are not reformist, want.

For now the group who surround Jintao doesn't feel psychotic or angry.
They won't provoke US into being drawn into hell, they'll just push it to behave more responsibly.

For exemple, more regulation to avoid people buying a house in suburban area away from public transportation and freight trains, where water is scarced or hurricane are frequent.

No shit, skin in the game. Can't ante, can't play.

It's funny how most people are ignorant of the fact that the U.S. was formed as the antithesis of aristocracy. It was meant to be a meritocracy, you had to prove your worth before you could even vote.

Too bad Jefferson and Madison, Adams even. Least we forget Jackson -- all of them underestimated the power of money to corrupt.

We're in the end game of that regime.

Here's hoping we survive the transition...
