Aren't all/most drones versions of helicopter... multi blade rather than a main one?
No, helicoptor has complicated mechanics to change the pitch of the blade as it goes around and a jet engine to get enough power and cost 3Mil and upwards, other than the 200K small trainer that runs of a normal engine.

You're missing the point dude!
"Vertical lift".. from horizontal blades = "helicopter-like".
Very Very Vaguely!
I've got racing drones and the first person goggles, 1 of them will do 100mph area and on the floor, full throttle shoots up like a rocket, 200ft in 1second.
I crash a lot, don't think I'd ride in a huge 1.
I didn't know drones could be that fast. Must be fun!
Easy to have a "powerful" (toy) drone. Not so easy to use vertical lift for something heavy... like a car.
when they get out of range they don't return to base, they just keeping going.

Oops, off the leash! (My dogs are like that.)

There will never be flying cars. It's a pipe dream. I remember seeing this flying car on the front page of popular mechanics back in the early 90s of a "Moller Skycar" It looked really cool and they were claiming you could put $100k down and it would be available in the "next year" or so. 30 years later and it's still not ready for sale. They've billed 100s of millions of dollars from investors over the years. Apparently the guy is in his 80s now and has been running the scam most of his life.
